          Spirituality, Transcendence, and Abstraction

Cui Xiuwen’s early works addressed female sexuality, sufferance, and societal expectations. Her approach to art in her mid-career changed dramatically, focusing on conceptual works inspired by examining the inner self and personal identity. This last section of the exhibition highlights her later works deeply rooted in her own spiritual enlightenment - a common concept about the consciousness of life in Buddhism.
